A handshake between Norway and Kemoto
Right Hand is an all-volunteer organisation where every bit of work is done for free. We work closely with the residents of the Gambian village of Kemoto to secure clean water, food, education and health care. Direct aid, no middlemen: you can be certain your support ends up in the right place.

It began with a journey
The organisation was founded after a journey to Kemoto, where the encounter with the local people left an unforgettable impression. They own almost nothing, yet give everything they have out of pure hospitality. Still, everyday life is a struggle to secure enough food and water.
Right Hand came to be because the people of Kemoto share everything, without ever expecting anything in return. It is precisely because of this unique warmth of heart that they deserve our help so dearly.

A dignified life, on their own terms
Our vision is to give the residents of Kemoto a dignified and easier life on their own terms. We dream of a community where everyone has full and safe access to clean drinking water, food, health care and education, driven by the village's own sense of community and democratic choices.
That is why the residents themselves decide which projects are prioritised, and how they are carried out.
«Nobody here takes a salary. Every single krone goes directly to the residents and the materials needed.»
